As the former capital of British India, Kolkata retains a feast of dramatic colonial architecture, with more than a few fine buildings in photogenic states of semi-collapse.  Leaving the Bengali-land behind you move on to the unspoiled and untouched Bhutan. The 'Land of the Thunder Dragon' opened its doors to travellers in the 1970's.
